I would recommend just waiting for the next version of software for iPhone and iPad and ATV2.

XBMC crashes about every ten minuets or so when streaming media generally means there is a software update from apple. When the apple TV requests the update it freezes the apple TV. Check for a newer version on seasonpass and re-install the newer version, this fixed the issue I was having. Hopefully this helps!!
