A couple advantages:
–The iPhone needs nothing special enabled or turned on, just look for the Airplay device, tap to connect.
–Don’t need to find and use Apple TV remote to connect to the phone.
–The iPhone can be connected to wifi, even if only guest wifi, so that any web or video accessed will not use iPhone cellular data.
–This also works with non-cellular capable iPads and iPods.

1) Will it eventually be possible to AirPlay from OSX using peer-to-peer?
2) Could a Mac or iPad have an active WiFi connection and use peer-to-peer for AirPlay at the same time? This would be especially useful in my office, where we have a complicated WiFi network that makes AirPlay over WiFi very difficult, and our connection adapters and cables to our AV system go missing often. Presenters often need a network connection during the presentation, though. If we could do AirPlay to an AppleTV and still maintain wireless network it would solve several problems.
